This is the only photo I can find of the SS Tien Kwang, the ship my father was on leaving Singapore
and was bombed off Pompong Island at approx 11.00 hrs on Saturday 14th February 1942
The photo is a copy of a photo on Kees Helder's Helder Line web, and who has kindly given me permission to use it here.

The top photo is the SS Kualu as it was before the war and
the lower one at anchor off Pompong Island showing a boat ready to go ashore to collect branches or just returned.
The lower photo is a scan of a photo in the book "Escape Impossible" written by Stanley W Saddington who owns the copyright and has kindly given me permission to use it here. The book is now out of print but I believe Stanley is thinking of reprinting the book. It is well worth reading it if you can get a copy, possibly from the library. ISBN 1897666 918
